Marilyn Buck, a political prisoner wrongfully incarcerated on charges of ‘conspiracy to commit armed bank robbery’ in connection with the escape of Assata Shakur, should be more well-known in activist/progressive communities. Her work began with anti-racist organizing as a teen in Texas, and continues even though she is behind bars.
Unfortunately, her health is failing, and she may be returning to her loved ones this August. Obviously there are mixed feelings with her possible homecoming as the vicious prison industrial system is only prepared to relinquish this womyn-warrior due to her serious illness.
Yet, still we celebrate – in honor of Ms. Marilyn Buck, Mumia Abu Jamal, Dr. Mutulu Shakur, and the others behind walls due to their defense of basic human rights and sovereignty. In solidarity with their sacrafice, and in the name of their valiant efforts, RAS will be performing tomorrow, to raise funds for her care.
The goal is to raise $2,500. For more information, please contact: Quinctilis@aol.com
Please come out and support. There will be speakers, poets, and other cultural offerings for a donation of only $10.
